Maverick County Daily Reports-February 28, 2020

Possession of a Controlled Substance-A county unit responded to the US Border Patrol checkpoint on Highway 57 shortly before 3 AM this morning after agents advised they had detained a male subject found in possession of a controlled substance. Upon further inspection, the subject, identified as Mario Lopez was carrying approximately 55.8 g of methamphetamine on his person. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Structural Fire-A homeowner on Pueblo Nuevo Drive reported she had been baking when her oven caught fire this morning, causing a structural fire at the residence. Fire department crews arrived at the scene to safely extinguish the flames. A formal report was filed.

Motor Vehicle Accident-A deputy responded to Fresno Street this evening, where a resident pulling into his driveway in a 2017 Ford Fusion was struck by an ATV driving eastbound. EMS crews were summoned to the scene, where the juvenile-aged driver of the ATV was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for further treatment. A formal report was filed.
