Maverick County Daily Reports-October 10, 2019

Wanted Person-a unit patrolling South Veteran's Blvd. early this morning made contact with the driver of a 2015 Dodge Caravan after a minor traffic infraction whose background check revealed an open warrant. The warrant for the subject, thirty-six year old Gabriel Barrera, was confirmed as active and Mr. Barrera was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Public Intoxication/Possession of a Controlled Substance-Units responded to a location on Dr. Gates Drive this morning shortly after 4 AM. where contact was made with three intoxicated female subjects, later identified as twenty-two year old Monica Canales, thirty-six year old Patricia Hernandez, and forty-four year old Maria Ibarra. All three were taken into custody on public intoxication charges and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing. Upon arrival at the detention center, a correctional officer found Ms. Ibarra to be in possession of a white powdery substance which would test positive for cocaine. Additional charges were filed on Ms. Ibarra.

Theft-A resident on Marco Street reported several items were taken from the bed of her pickup truck without her consent. A formal report was filed.

Wanted Person-Deputies this morning arrested twenty-two year old Jorge Luis Arellano at the Maverick County Adult Probation Office after probation officers detained him when a check revealed an active warrant. The warrant out of Comal County for Mr. Arellano was confirmed and he was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Theft-A complainant arrived at the Maverick County Sheriff's Office to report unknown subject(s) entered her safe and took money without her consent. A formal report was filed.

Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon-Units responded to the 200 block of 3rd Street in Quemado, Texas this evening after a twenty-seven year old undocumented citizen was found with a possible gunshot wound. Deputies arrived at the location and observed a known male subject carrying a rifle.A brief struggle ensued before deputies and Border Patrol agents were able to safely detain the subject. Preliminary investigations revealed the subject had shot the victim for reasons still unknown. EMS crews were summoned to the scene, where the male victim was transported to San Antonio via Airlife for further medical attention. The suspect was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for minor injuries before being taken to the Tom Bowles Detention Center. This case remains under investigation.
