Maverick County Daily Reports-June 16, 2017

Information Report-Units responded to the US river bank near the international port of entry 1 early this morning after the driver of a 2016 Lexus had gotten too close to the river's edge and tipped over, forcing the vehicle to completely turn.

Motor Vehicle Accident-Units responded to Highway 277 East this afternoon after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, deputies observed a 2002 GMC Yukon with front end damages to the frill and bumper area and a 2006 Dodge Caravan that had sustained damages to its rear bumper area. Contact was made with both parties involved, where it was determined that both vehicles were travelling Eastbound on 277 when the Dodge was struck from behind when it attempted to make a turnaround. The occupants of both vehicles involved were transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Wanted Person-Deputies arrested a male subject identified as Nicolas Vargas at the international port of entry #2 this evening after CBP agents detained him on an active warrant. The warrant out of Dallas County was confirmed and Mr. Vargas was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
