Maverick County Daily Reports-March 23, 2017

DWI/Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz.-Deputies patrolling FM 2030 this morning conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 BMW for a minor infraction. Contact was made with the driver, Justin Ryan Luna, who displayed bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and an unknown alcoholic odor emitting from his breath. Mr. Luna agreed to a field sobriety exam, in which it was determined he performed poorly. A search of his vehicle also yielded the discovery of a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance. Mr. Luna was arrested on DWI and Possession charges. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Benjamin Sanchez, was also arrested when a background check revealed an active warrant for his arrest out of Maverick County. Both were transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Motor Vehicle Accident-Units responded to the Stripes convenience store at the intersection of FM1021 and Loop 480 this afternoon after a 2013 Toyota Tacoma attempting to leave exit the parking lot was struck by the driver of a 2003 Honda Odyssey. The driver of the Odyssey was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for further treatment, while the occupants of the Tacoma refused medical attention. This case is under investigation.

Wanted Person-Crystal Rangel was arrested this afternoon after a background check revealed an active warrant for her arrest. The warrant was confirmed and she was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
