Driving While Intoxicated/Public Intoxication-Deputies patrolling Las Quintas Blvd. early this morning conducted a traffic stop on a 2009 Dodge Avenger for a minor traffic infraction. Contact was made with the driver and passenger of the vehicle, thirty-one year old Santana Garcia and twenty-four year old Phillip Salazar. Both subjects displayed signs of being highly intoxicated and were placed under arrest. They were then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
Aggravated Assault-A complainant stated he had been assaulted in Seco Mines by several known male individuals who displayed knives and caused minor lacerations to his arm and shoulder. EMS was summoned to location, where the male refused further medical attention.
Theft-A complainant on Memo Robinson Road stated that unknown actor(s) took several items from his back yard without consent.
Wanted Person-A county unit responded to the international Port of Entry #1, where CBP agents detained a male subject after a background check revealed an open warrant. The warrant for Robert Gonzalez out of Austin, Texas was confirmed and Mr. Gonzalez was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle-Deputies on patrol observed a 1998 Oldsmobile perform a minor traffic violation. Upon attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the county unit was led on a high speed pursuit into town. The vehicle, continuing to travel at a high right of speed, turned onto Garrison Street towards the port of entry before losing control and crashing at the corner of Garrison and Medina Street. The driver, eighteen year old Jorge Chapa, who was found transporting five undocumented citizens, was placed under arrest. Three of the IA's were transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center ER for treatment. The other two were taken into custody by Border Patrol agents.
