Maverick County Daily Reports-February 20, 2016

Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz-A deputy patrolling Potro Park early this morning made contact with a suspicious male subject who had a strong odor of marijuana emitting from his person. A body pat down yielded the discovery of a clear plastic baggy with a green leafy substance which tested positive for marijuana. Pedro Torres Gonzalez was placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Public Intoxication-A county unit responded to Juanita Street after receiving reports of an unwanted subject in the area. A deputy in the area noticed a male subject matching the desription walking in the roadway and made contact with the subject, identified as Feliciano Mendoza. Mr. Mendoza displayed unstable balance, bloodshot eyes, and a strong alcoholic odor emitting from his person. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon-Units responded to Academy Road this morning, where contact was made with a couple who stated they had attended a party in Loma Bonita earlier that evening. The female complainant stated that while at the party, two identified male subjects approached them and began a physical altercation, striking her in the head with a hand gun. During the altercation, the other male aggressor stabbed her husband in the neck with a knife. EMS crews arrived at the scene and transported both individuals to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for treatment. The male individual was later transported to San Antonio, Texas via Air lift. The Criminal Investigations Division was also at the location. This case is under investigation.

Motor Vehicle Accident-Officers responded to US Highway 277 East this morning in reference to a motor vehicle accident. A private ambulance company was at the scene rendering aid on the driver of a Ford Focus upon deputies' arrival. The driver and passengers of a second vehicle involved in the accident, a Dodge Journey, were transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Ford Focus would later be pronounced deceased. The Texas Department of Public Safety was at the scene and has taken over investigations.

Theft-A complainant at a Dollar General on FM1021 reported she had left her cellular phone inside a shopping cart and upon returning, had found the phone missing.

Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz.-Deputies responded to the United States Border Patrol checkpoint on US highway 57 after agents detained a male subject in possession of a marijuana cigarette. Fifty-five year old Mark Alan Carter was placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Evading Arrest/Possession of Marijuana-Units were dispatched to Costa Rica this evening in reference to a family violence in progress. Prior to arrival, it was known that the male and female actors had left the scene in a Chevrolet Malibu traveling on Rosita Valley Road. A traffic stop would later be made on a vehicle matching the description, where the driver, identified as Robert McGill, exited the vehicle and began to run away. McGill was apprehended shortly. While conducting an inventory of the vehicle, a clear plastic baggy containing a green leafy substance appearing to be marijuana was located by the passenger's side. The passenger, identified as Paola De Leon, as well as Mr. McGill were placed under arrest placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
