County units were dispatched to the Loma Bonita sector of Maverick County This afternoon, near the 1:30 PM Hour, after a concerned citizen alerted Sheriff's dispatchers of a maroon Ford Taurus loading several undocumented citizens into the vehicle. Deputies joined chase of the Taurus on Eidson Road after the vehicle failed to yield to United States Border Patrol agents attempting to conduct a stop. The pursuit continued through the streets of Loma Bonita before leading deputies to the river vega area of the Rio Grande River, where four of the vehicle occupants exited the vehicle and jumped into the river. One male subject was detained by United States Border Patrol agents.
