Maverick County Sheriff's Office(PRESS RELEASE)-April 10, 2015

County units en route to a stolen vehicle report in Chula Vista were lead on a pursuit through the city of Eagle Pass late Thursday afternoon. At approximately 7:00 PM, deputies observed a vehicle driving wrecklessly though the intersection of Main Street and North Veterans Boulevard. Deputies immediately turned on their emergency lights in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle in question, a black Ford Escape, refused to yield and continued northbound on Veteran's Boulevard.
The Eagle Pass Police Department joined chase in an attempt to stop the Escape, who had narrowly avoided collision on several occasions as it swerved through oncoming traffic. The pursuit came to a halt at Bibb Avenue and Second Street when the county unit and Eagle Pass PD unit collided in an effort to block the Escape from continuing. A sixteen year old male juvenile exited the vehicle in an attempt to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended and detained by officers from both agencies. It was later revealed that the Black Ford Escape was the same vehicle reported as stolen in Chula Vista.
