Maverick County Sheriff's Office(PRESS RELEASE)-October 29, 2014
Maverick County Sheriff's units responded to a motor vehicle accident on highway 277 East by mile marker 616 on Tuesday,October 28th, at approximately 12:10 PM. Upon arrival, deputies observed two tractor trailers and two vehicles involved in an accident near the road construction area. EMS crews were quickly summoned to the scene where the jaws of life were required in order to extract a female from a white van. The female was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the second vehicle, a white pickup, was pronounced deceased at the scene, while his passenger was airlifted to San Antonio, Texas were he would later succumb to injuries. The drivers of the semi trailers were treated and released at the scene. The Texas Department of Public Safety arrived at the location and has since taken over the investigation.
