The Maverick County Sheriff's Office arrested a male subject identified as Eagle Pass resident Juan Carlos Romo Thursday evening, after Romo attempted to smuggle a dangerous drug into the Tom Bowles Detention Center. The controlled substance, later identified as black tar heroin, was found in Mr. Romo's possession. Mr. Romo was charged with introducing a prohibited substance to a detention facility, a third degree felony.
