Deputies responded to a vehicle on fire on Monday, July 21st near the Maverick County line on US Highway 57. County units arrived at the scene to find a tractor trailer pulled over on the side of the southbound lane, fully engulfed in flames and made contact with the driver of the rig, identified as fifty-four year old Paul Michael Mountain. Mr. Mountain stated he looked at his side view mirror and noticed smoke coming from the back of his trailer, at which point he pulled over on the side of the road and safely exited the trailer. Eagle Pass Fire Department crews were on scene to extinguish the fire. This incident is under investigation.
