                            Maverick County Sheriff's Office(PRESS RELEASE)-July 17, 2014

The Maverick County Sheriff's Office, under the direction of Sheriff Tom Schmerber, is pleased to announce it has agreed to terms with Webb County to assist its prisoner overflow. Sheriff Schmerber indicated that Webb County will begin its initial transfer of approximately fifty inmates in the coming days and that an additional amount of prisoners will be transported to Maverick County in the near future to be housed for an indefinite amount of time. The move will help Webb County alleviate its prisoner overpopulation and will also serve as a benefit to Maverick County. The Sheriff's Office, alongside the Office of the County Judge, continue to be proactive in seeking additional avenues of revenue.
