Deputies Respond to Driver Stranded in Rising Water Area
Maverick County Sheriff's Office(PRESS RELEASE)-Deputies were dispatched to Loop 481 Friday Evening at approximately 9:45 PM in reference to an occupied vehicle that was being carried away by rising waters on the roadway. Deputies arrived at the scene and made contact with the driver, identified as twenty-five year old Ana Minelly Perez, who stated she was traveling to Eagle Pass from Uvalde, Texas. Mrs. Perez further stated she had not seen the water accumulated on the roadway and by the time she applied the breaks to her 2008 black Pontiac G5, it skid deeper into the water. The vehicle was then carried by the current from the southbound lane to the northbound lane. Deputies also made contact with three male individuals who were passing through and assisted Mrs. Perez in exiting her vehicle safely. Mrs. Perez refused medical attention and the vehicle was left at the location due to rising waters.
