Three vehicle Accident on Highway 277 North near Elm Creek

Maverick County Sheriff's Office(PRESS RELEASE)-Sheriff's deputies responded to US Highway 277 North and Elm Creek Friday morning near the 9 AM hour regarding a reported three vehicle accident. Upon arrival, deputies observed two vehicles in the middle of the Elm Creek bridge with noticeable damages and Border Patrol agents at the scene assisting. A third vehicle, a tractor/flatbed trailer), was off of the highway with damages to its right side. The driver of the trailer advised deputies that he experienced a blowout on his front right tire that sent the trailer veering left onto oncoming traffic. The driver lost control and struck a blue Nissan Altima and a green Buick van skidding off the road. Eagle Pass fire and ambulance arrived at the location to treat the injured occupants. The drivers of both the Nissan Altima and the Buick van were transported to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for further medical attention. The Texas Department of Public Safety was also at the scene of the accident and had taken over the investigation. Elm Creek Bridge was closed down for approximately an hour due to the accident.
