Shooting in La Herradura Leaves one man Wounded

Maverick County Sheriff's Office (PRESS RELEASE)-On Saturday, February 8th 2014 at 7:13 P.M. deputies from the Maverick County Sheriff's Office under the direction of Sheriff Tom Schmerber responded to an address located in La Herradura subdivision in reference to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim's father who stated his son had received gunshot wounds to his body. Deputies observed a gunshot wound below the ribcage area on the male subject and summoned EMS to the location. The victim was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for treatment before being transferred to San Antonio. 

The Maverick County Sheriff's Office Investigations unit took over the investigation with the assistance of Texas Rangers. A BOLO was placed shortly thereafter for two suspects, who were eventually detained attempting to leave the United States into Mexico by the U.S. Customs TCET team members at Port of Entry #2. The Suspects, identified as Jose Hector Ramos, Jr. and Adalberto Baca, were transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center and charged with Aggravated  Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The victim remains in stable condition.
