Maverick County Sheriff's Office (PRESS RELEASE)- On Saturday February 08, 2014 at approximately 12:03 P.M., deputies were dispatched to the Las Vegas Ranch in reference to a deceased body found in the Rio Grande. upon arrival, deputies made contact with U.S. Border Patrol agents who stated their boat patrol had discovered the lifeless body of a male subject floating in the river. Eagle Pass Fire Department was summoned to the scene to assist on the retrieval of the body. The male subject was identified as Juan Manuel Vaquera Martinez, a twenty-one year old Mexican national from San Pedro, Coahuila. Justice of the Peace Jeannie Smith pronounced Martinez deceased at 1:26 PM.
