PRESS RELEASE: Motor Vehicle Accident on F.M. 2030


Maverick County Sheriff's Office (PRESS RELEASE)-Sheriff's units were dispatched to F.M. 2030 at 11:17 AM Thursday February 06, 2014 in reference to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Seventy-five year old Jose Garza Garza, the driver of a 2001 Mazda Pickup, who stated he was traveling westbound on FM 2030 and attempted to pass a convoy of sweeping trucks in an area designated as a no pass zone. In his attempt to pass, Mr. Garza noticed a 2008 white van approaching head on, causing him to swerve to the right. The pickup struck the oncoming van on the left quarter panel as well as the back panel of a sweeper Mr. Garza was attempting to pass. The driver of the white van, thirty year old Jovanna Morfin, was transported to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the sweeper, twenty six year old Javier Medina refused medical attention.
