PRESS RELEASE: Maverick County Sheriff's Office Assists Tribal Police in Vehicle Pursuit


Maverick County Sheriff's Office (PRESS RELEASE)-Maverick County Sheriff's deputies responded to an assistance call from the Kickapoo Tribal Police Department in reference to a fleeing vehicle in the Rosita Valley area during the early hours of Friday, February 07, 2014. Deputies engaged in the pursuit along with Tribal PD of a vehicle traveling eastbound on Wagon Wheel Road. The pursuit terminated when the driver of the fleeing vehicle failed to control his speed and wrecked into two barbed wire fences near the 1300 block of Wagon Wheel Road. The Driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Valdez, was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center by EMS after suffering lacerations on his head and a possible broken leg. The passenger, Pola Trevino, was arrested on the scene by Tribal Police for inhalant abuse. Mr. Valdez was later transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center where he was charged with evading arrest.
