Warrant-A deputy responded to the Maverick County Lake this afternoon in regards to a possible assault in progress whereupon arrival, contact was made with a pair of individuals at the scene. One subject, forty-one year old Joseph Jefferson Smith was placed under arrest after a check revealed a felony warrant out of the Maverick County Sheriff's Office. Smith was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for further processing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance-Deputies this afternoon made contact with Customs agents at the international port of entry 2 when they detained a male subject in possession of narcotics. Upon arrival, it was revealed the subject identified as Emmanuel Lewis Moreno was found in possession of approximately 86.08 grams of methamphetamine. Lewis was then arrested and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
Assault/Family Violence-Pedro Zavala, Jr. was arrested on assault/family violence charges this evening after his ex-girlfriend reported she had been physically assaulted by him in their vehicle just outside of the Maverick County Sheriff's Office. The complainant displayed a laceration on her left elbow, however, reufsed medical attention at the time of the report. Mr. Zavala was then escorted to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
