Possession of a Controlled Substance-A deputy was dispatched to the US Border Patrol checkpoint on US Highway 57 this afternoon after agents detained a male subject found in possession of narcotics. Jose Guadalupe Alcaraz, the driver of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado sent to inspection, was placed under arrest after the search yielded the discovery of two clear plastic baggies with methamphetamine characteristics found inside a shoe box and a bag containing a white powdery substance was discovered amidst a bag of clothes. The vehicle and approximately $4,100.00 were released to a female passenger and Mr. Alcaraz was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
