Maverick County Daily Report-May 29, 2020

DWI-Twenty year old Juan Esparza was arrested on DWI charges this morning after a traffic stop conducted near Chula Vista Road found him in an intoxicated state. A female passenger was cited for  an open container and was released by the location to a family member. Mr. Esparza was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Information Report-Deputies this morning responded to Calle Alegre to find a 2008 Lincoln  engulfed in flames. Fire crews arrived at the location and safely extinguished the fire and the fire Marshal has since taken over the investigation.

Wanted Person-Jose Juan Arredondo was taken into custody this morning after a traffic stop conducted revealed he had an outstanding warrant out of Maverick County for his arrest. He was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Criminal Mischief-A complainant who had previously reported his 2007 BMW sedan had been taken without permission told deputies the known female who had taken it caused several damages to the vehicle. A formal report was filed.

Family Violence/Assault-Units responded to Rosita Valley Road this evening after a female subject reported she been assaulted by a male subject at the location. Upon arrival, the subject stated her boyfriend, later identified as forty-seven year old Martin Portillo had struck her in the head with an object, causing a laceration. Mr. Portillo was placed under arrest ans transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Hit and Run-The driver of a Nissan Versa travelling on Old Pioneer Road this evening reported he he was driving eastbound when his vehicle was struck on its left side by a pickup truck who fled the scene. A formal report was filed.
