Maverick County Daily Reports-February 21, 2019

Wanted Person-Deputies arrested a male subject identified as Pablo De Leon this morning after a check revealed an active warrant. The warrant for Mr. De Leon was confirmed and he was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Information Report (Motor Vehicle Accident)-Units responded to a motor vehicle accident on US Highway 57 approximately five miles past Loop 480 this afternoon. Investigations revealed a 2001 white Dodge Ram traveling northbound was struck head-on when A Ford Expedition veered left into the oncoming lane. The driver of the Dodge truck, fifty-five-year-old Jesus Cabrera Pizano of New Braunfels, Texas was extracted from his vehicle via the jaws of life and was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for treatment. Twenty-four-year-old Ramiro Martinez, Jr, the driver of the Ford Expedition was flown via Air-Evac to a San Antonio area hospital for treatment. His passenger, twenty-seven-year-old Javier Hernandez was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. The Texas Department of Public Safety has taken over investigations.

Possession of a Controlled Substance/Resisting Arrest/Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle-Deputies patroling the Loma Bonita sector this evening conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Dakota for a traffic violation. Contact was made with the driver, Efren Lopez, whose search of the vehicle yielded the discovery of three plastic baggies containing crystal meth under the driver seat.

Deputies attempted to arrest Mr. Lopez, who began to resist and rushed back to his vehicle. A pursuit ensued before the vehicle came to a complete stop and Mr. Lopez fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. An arrest warrant for Mr. Lopez has since been issued.
