Maverick County Daily Reports-January 07, 2019

Public Intoxication-A unit was dispatched to the 100 block of Pleasant Drive this morning after a complainant advised of a suspicious white vehicle parked in front of his residence. Upon arrival, contact was made with a male subject found asleep on the driver's side of a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. The subject emitted a strong alcoholic odor emitting from his person, a slurred speech, and bloodshot eyes. He was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Possession of a Controlled Substance-A traffic stop on a 2006 Jeep Laredo early this morning yielded the discovery of a male subject in possession of a controlled substance. Contact was made with the three occupants of the vehicle during the stop on Zaragoza Street, where deputies located several plastic baggies containing a crystal-like substance on one subject. The subject, identified as Joel Talamantez Valdez, admitted the subject was methamphetamine(7.07g). He was placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Theft-A female complainant reported a known male subject took items from their company without effective consent.

Wanted Person-A unit responded to the international port of entry 1 this morning after agents at the port had detained a male subject whose background check revealed a warrant for his arrest. The warrant out of Dimmit County for Pablo Antonio Hernandez was confirmed and Hernandez was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Assault/Family Violence/Unlawful Restraint-A female complainant reported she had been assaulted by a known male subject who also forcefully kept her from leaving the residence. Contact was made with the Criminal Investigations Unit.

Identity Theft-Deputies this afternoon met with a female subject who reported unknown actor(s) had been using her identity without her effective consent.

Wanted Person-Luis Alberto Cardenas was taken into custody at the international port of entry 1 this afternoon after CBP agents initially detained him when a check revealed an open warrant for his arrest. The warrant out of Dimmit County was confirmed as active and Mr. Cardenas was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
