Maverick County Daily Reports-December 20, 2018

Possession of a Controlled Substance-Deputies arrested fifty-seven year old Pedro De La Rosa at the international port of entry 2 early this morning after he was initially detained by agents at the port. Contact was made with the agents, who reported Mr. De La Rosa was found to be in possession of an illegal substance, later determined to be steroids. He was taken into custody and was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Deceased Person-Deputies responded to the river vega area near Loop 480 this morning after Border Patrol agents making their daily round observed what the believed to be a body in the river. Upon further examination, an unknown male subject was retrieved from the river. EMS crews were at the location to assist and Justice of the Peace Madera declared the subject deceased.

Criminal Trespass/Criminal Attempt/Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon-Units responded to Calle Escondido, where a complainant reported a male subject had attempted to gain entry into several vehicles in the area without consent. The subject, later identified as Eduardo Castaneda, was detained by the complainant before deputies arrived. He was also found to be in possession of a handgun he reportedly threatened to use. Deputies took custody of Mr. Castaneda and transported him to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
