Wanted Person-A deputy patrolling the Loma Bonita sector of Maverick County this morning conducted a traffic stop on a silver vehicle for a minor infraction. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Jose Martinez, whose check revealed an active warrant for his arrest out of Maverick County. Mr. Martinez was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
Identity Theft-A complainant on the 1500 block of Calle Encuentro reported an unknown female subject had been using her identity without her consent.
Deceased Person-Deputies responded to the Cinco Cattle Ranch this afternoon after an unresponsive subject was found in the Rio Grande River. The person was recovered from the river and pronounced deceased by a Justice of the Peace.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle/Damage to Property-A unit was dispatched to FM2030 this afternoon in reference to a single motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival at the location, deputies observed a vehicle found trapped in the brush area inside a private property after striking a fenceline. The vehicle was found unoccupied and abandoned at the scene and a check would reveal it had previously been reported as stolen. The vehicle was impounded to the Maverick County Sheriff's Office for further investigation.
Wanted Person-Christopher Lee Carreon was arrested this afternoon at the international port of entry #1 when a check revealed an active warrant out of Bexar County. The warrant was confirmed and Mr. Carreon was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for further processing.
Public Intoxication-Carlos Vargas Valadez was arrested on public intoxication charges after his vehicle had veered off the roadway, nearly falling into a canal. Fire rescue crews were able to place the vehicle back on the roadway, however, deputies determined Mr. Vargas was in no condition to operate a vehicle. He was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
