Theft-Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Maverick County Sheriff's Office, along with the assistance of Kickapoo Tribal Police and Lucky Eagle Casino Police were able to make an arrest on a male subject charged with theft this morning after he was found to be in possession of several items previously reported stolen by a casino patron. The patron had reported she was at the casino when a subject had taken her purse, which contained several pieces of jewelry, documents, and approximately 600.00 in cash from her electric scooter. A formal report was filed at the Sheriff's Office and the subject was later seen walking near the casino area, where he was detained and brought in for further investigation.
Officers were able to canvass the casino area, where the purse and personal documents were recovered along with the jewelry in the male subject's possession. The cash, however, was missing. The subject, identified as Alfredo Hilario Rodriguez, was placed under arrest on felony theft charges. This case will be referred to the District Attorney's Office.
Wanted Person-Samantha Alexandra Mendez was taken into custody at the international port of entry #2 this afternoon after agents at the port detained her when a check revealed an active warrant for her arrest out of Dallas County. The warrant was confirmed and Ms. Mendez was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
