Maverick County Daily Reports-August 06, 2018

Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz.-Deputies arrested 18 year old Nathan Rodriguez Galan shortly after the noon hour after he was found to be in possession of four clear plastic baggies containing a green leafy substance which tested positive for marijuana. Mr. Rodrgiuez was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Wanted Person-A unit responded to the international port of entry #2 after a subject attempting to enter the US was detained when a check revealed an active warrant for his arrest. The warrant for the male subject, identified as Fernando Hernandez, was confirmed as active and Mr. Hernandez was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Burglary of Vehicle-A resident on the 1300 block of Steven Drive reported unknown subject(s) had entered his vehicle without consent and took a wallet from his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado.

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon/Tampering with Identification Numbers/Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon-Units responded to FM2030 by Michelle Road this evening after receiving several reports of shots fired heard in the area. Deputies searching the vicinity heard multiple shots fired near the canal area and came upon a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe occupied by several subjects.
 A patdown was conducted on a subject identified as Rene Tovar, Jr., who was found to be in possession of a revolver and a handgun. He was placed under arrest for unlawfully carrying a weapon.
A search of the vehicle rendered the discovery of a sawed-off shotgun with its serial numbers tampered with. Manuel Chavez, a recently convicted felon, claimed ownership of the shotgun. He was arrested at the scene on charges of tampering with identification numbers and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
All three weapons were seized and the two were transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing. The remaining subjects at the scene were released and the vehicle was released to the driver.
