Maverick County Daily Reports-July 19, 2018

Driving While Intoxicated/Possession of a Controlled Substance-A unit patrolling Spur 216 this morning conducted a traffic stop on a 2015 Ford pickup observed traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving along the roadway. Contact was made with the driver of the pickup, who emitted a strong alcoholic odor from his person and would refuse requests to perform a field sobriety exam. The deputy conducting the traffic stop determined the driver posed a danger to the motoring public and himself and placed the subject under arrest on DWI charges. He was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center on DWI charges. In the midst of being turned over to the jail department, a clear baggie containing a white powdery substance was located on the seat the male subject was sitting. Further investigation also found a white powdery substance scattered throughout the male subject's vehicle. The substance would test positive for cocaine and additional charges were added.
