Maverick County Daily Reports-July 17. 2018

Assault/Family Violence-Deputies met with a complainant who reported she had been assaulted by her sister upon arriving at a residence. A report was filed.

Public Intoxication-A county unit was dispatched to the 2600 block of Eidson Road early this morning after residents reported an unknown subject knocking at the door. Upon arrival to the area, contact was made with a male subject who reported his vehicle had run out of gas. Deputies detected a strong alcoholic odor emitting from the subject's person, who admitted to having consumed several alcoholic beverages but could not provide a clear story of his previous whereabouts. He was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Possession of a Controlled Substance/Possession of a Dangerous Drug-A deputy on patrol early this morning conducted a traffic stop on a black Ford Mustang found traveling at a high rate of speed. Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy observed a baggie containing a white powdery substance(methamphetamine) and a plastic with pills(later identified as Alprazolam and Clonazepam) inside the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Wanted Person-Twenty-five year old John Cortez Palestino was arrested at the international port of entry #1 this morning after a TCIC check revealed an open warrant out of Bexar County. The warrant was confirmed as active and Mr. Palestino was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Information Report-Deputies responded to a structural fire on the 1300 block of Agarita this afternoon after a homeowner reported he noticed smoke coming from the ceiling extractor in his bathroom. Fire Department crews arrived at the scene to properly extinguish the fire and an information report was filed.

Burglary of Building-A complainant on the 2300 block of Del Rio Blvd. reported an unknown subject(s) had entered her building without consent through the back entrance and took money from the register and several hair products.

Public Intoxication-Deputies arrested Jacob Skyler Valdez this evening after he was found in a highly intoxicated state on the 300 block of Rosita Valley Road. He was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
