Maverick County Daily Reports-May 09, 2018

Minor Motor Vehicle Accident-Deputies responded to Rosita Valley Road and FM1021 this morning after the driver of a Chrysler 300 accidentally rear-ended a 2007 Ford F-150. EMS crews were at the scene of the accident, however, the occupants of both vehicles refused medical attention.

Wanted Person-Edgar Gomez was taken into custody at the international port of entry #1 when a check revealed an active warrant for his arrest. The warrant was confirmed and Mr. Gomez was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz.-Deputies responding to a domestic disturbance on Marco Street this afternoon made contact with a female subject who reported being involved in a verbal altercation with her husband. In the midst of the investigation, deputies located a metal smoking pipe and a clear plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance the husband had hid while supposedly looking for a set of keys. Jose Daniel Ramos took ownership of the substance and was taken into custody on possession of marijuana charges. He was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Public Intoxication-A county unit was dispatched to FM2030 after several 911 callers reported a male subject stumbling as he walked along the edge of the roadway. Contact with the subject, who was found stumbling and unable to walk, was made upon arrival. The subject, Jacob Skyler Valdez, emitted a strong alcoholic odor from his person, a slurred speech, and bloodshot eyes. He was taken into custody on public intoxication charges and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Deceased Person-A deputy responded to a residence on Baltica Street this evening where family members of an elderly female under hospice care reported she had passed away. EMS crews were at the location and Justice of the Peace Madera was called to the scene, where the female was pronounced deceased at approximately 9:00 PM.

Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz.-Deputies patrolling under Stonegarden operations this evening conducted a traffic stop on Bianca Street for a minor infraction. Contact was made with the driver, whose vehicle emitted a strong marijuana odor. Consent to search the vehicle was given, which yielded the discovery of a half-made cigarette containing a green leafy substance. The driver, Estaban Bustos, took ownership of the substance and was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
