Maverick County Daily Reports-February 14, 2018

Wanted Person-Contact was made with City of Eagle Pass Police officers this morning who had detained a male subject with an open warrant out of Maverick County. The warrant for Jose Baldemar Penilla was confirmed and he was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle/Motor Vehicle Accident-Deputies on patrol this morning conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 green Ford Ranger, who in the midst of the stop, fled southbound on Callejon Teran before colliding into a fenced property on Mikulinski Road. The occupants of the vehicle then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The vehicle was taken to the Maverick County Sheriff's Office for further investigation.

Wanted Person-A County unit responded to the international port of entry #2 this morning after agents detained a male subject whose background check revealed an active warrant out of Maverick County. The warrant for Emir Mendez Salazar was confirmed and he was placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Wanted Person-Jesus Alberto Ortiz was taken into custody at the international port of entry after initially being detained by agents when a check revealed an active warrant out of Pecos County. Mr. Ortiz was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing when the warrant was confirmed.

Aggravated Assault/Family Violence with a Motor Vehicle-Units were dispatched to the 100 block of Dubb Street this evening after a female complainant reported she had been struck by her boyfriend's vehicle while he was backing up recklessly on the roadway. EMS crews were summoned to the scene and the complainant was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for several injuries sustained. The boyfriend had left the area prior to a deputies' arrival. This case is under investigation.
