Maverick County Daily Reports-February 28, 2017

DWI/Possession of Marijuana-A deputy responded to the intersection of FM1021 and Memo Robinson Road shortly after 3:30 AM this morning, where a driver was found asleep behind the wheel. The driver, identified as Jose Antonio Salazar, was placed under arrest on DWI charges and was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Motor Vehicle Accident-Units responded to US Highway 277 North by Becos Street this afternoon after a 1991 Nissan pickup struck a 2011 Buick Enclave from behind. The driver of the Enclave was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center ER for further medical attention.

Wanted Person-Lathesia Denise Stroman was arrested at the United States Border Patrol checkpoint on US Highway 57 North after agents detained her after a check revealed an active warrant. The warrant was confirmed and she was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Wanted Person-Deputies were contacted by the United States Border Patrol south station this evening after they had detained a male subject with an active warrant. Luis Abelardo Rodriguez was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing after the warrant was confirmed.

Assault/Family Violence-Deputies responded to a residence on the 300 block of La Paloma and made contact with a male and female subject who stated a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation. Eduardo Canales and Melissa Cuebas were both placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle/Wanted Person-Units responded to the United States Border Patrol checkpoint this evening after agents made contact with a reported stolen vehicle. The vehicle, a 2016 Toyota Camry had been reported stolen out of San Antonio, Texas. Its driver was placed under arrest and a check on the passenger, identified as Sara Martinez, revealed an active. The warrant was confirmed and both subjects were transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing. The vehicle was impounded to the Maverick County Sheriff's Office for further investigation.
