Maverick County Daily Reports-January 22, 2017

Damage to Vehicle-A County unit responded to US Highway 57 early this morning after the driver of a 2014 Dodge Charger had veered off the highway when a large bird struck the windshield, causing damages.

Public Intoxication-Carolina Fernandez was arrested early this morning after she was found walking on the roadway by Wagon Wheel Road. Upon contact, Ms. Fernandez displayed signs of intoxication. She was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon-Units responded to the 900 block of Albores, whereupon arrival, made contact with a victim who reported having been assaulted by a male subject. The subject, later identified as Julio Rangel Alvarez, had stabbed the victim with a knife, causing a large laceration on the right upper-chest and stomach area. Rangel Alvarez was arrested and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.


Theft-A complainant on the 100 block of Sahara reported unknown subject(s) had taken his yellow dirt bike without consent.

Wanted Person-Oscar Martinez, Jr. was arrested at the international port of entry #2 this afternoon when a background check revealed an active warrant. The warrant was confirmed and Mr. Martinez was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Burglary of Habitation-A deputy responded to a residence on the 2800 block of Siwel this afternoon, where the owner reported several electronic items were stolen from her home. After further investigation, several items were recovered at an abandoned residence.
