Maverick County Daily Reports-March 05, 2016

Motor Vehicle Accident with a Fixed Object-Deputies were dispatched to the Maverick County Lake, where the driver of a vehicle involved in a single motor vehicle accident stated his steering column locked and he was unable to avoid striking a wooden pole.

Public Intoxication/DWLI-A deputy patrolling Las Quintas Blvd. early this morning observed a black pickup truck with its break lights on and the driver slumped over the steering wheel. Contact was made with Ignacio Zaragoza, the driver of the vehicle, who was found asleep at the wheel. Mr. Zaragoza displayed unstable movements and was placed under arrest on public intoxication charges. He was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz.-Deputies responded to the United States Border Patrol south station, where agents had detained a male subject who was found to be in possession of marijuana. Agents told officers that a secondary vehicle inspection  led to the discovery of five small plastic baggies containing a green leafy substance. The substance later tested positive for five grams of marijuana. Arrested was nineteen year old Taylor Tovar out of Hondo, Texas. Tovar was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
