Maverick County Daily Reports-February 12, 2016

Motor Vehicle Accident-Deputies responded to the intersection of US Highway 277 North and Fm1664 early this morning in reference to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the county unit observed a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado found inside a dig next to the roadway. Contact was made with the driver, who told deputies he had been traveling southbound on US Highway 277 when he felt asleep behind the wheel, causing the vehicle to veer off of the roadway. The driver refused medical attention at the time of the report.

Public Intoxication-Deputies responded to School Circle in reference to a possible family violence in progress. Contact was made with the complainant upon arrival, who told officers she had been involved in an altercation with her common law husband. Deputies were also able to make contact with the male subject in question, who stated the female had also assaulted him. After further investigation, deputies detected unstable balance, bloodshot eyes, and a strong alcoholic odor emitting from the male subject. He was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center ER for medical treatment and issued a citation.

Burglary of Habitation-A resident on Pleasant Drive reported unknown subject(s) entered her home without her consent.

Wanted Person- A deputy was dispatched to the international Port of Entry #1, where CBP agents had detained a male subject on an active warrant. Luis Carlos Velasquez was placed under arrest after the warrant was confirmed. He was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
