Maverick County Sheriff's Office(PRESS RELEASE)-February 23, 2015



Deputies participating in Operation Stonegarden activities made a routine traffic stop Sunday evening that resulted in the seizure of  three bundles of marijuana. At approximately 7:09 PM, units patrolling the northern sector of Maverick County conducted the stop and noticed military style duffel bags in the back seat. A strong odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle, and upon further investigation, was determined that the contents inside the duffel bags tested positive for marijuana. The total weight of the marijuana bundles equaled 122.13 pounds. The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana. This case remains under investigation by the Maverick County Sheriff's Office and Homeland Security Investigations.
