A motor vehicle accident on El Indio Highway near the Tierra Del Sol subdivision interrupted traffic Wednesday morning, after the two vehicles involved became fully engulfed in flames. Deputies were dispatched to the area at approximately 2:18 AM and made contact with Efrain Sanchez, the driver of a Dodge Charger, and Carnell Ford, the driver of a 2007 white International tractor trailer. Mr. Sanchez stated that both vehicles were traveling southbound on FM 1021, when the trailer attempted to make a right-hand turn into the Alamo Concrete property from the southbound inside line, not noticing that Mr. Sanchez was traveling alongside him on the outer lane. The Charger was unable to avoid collision, and struck the tractor on the right quarter front area, causing the vehicle to burst into flames.
Both drivers were able to exit their vehicles and refused medical attention at the time of the report. Eagle Pass Fire Department crews were summoned to the location to assist in extinguishing the fire. The Texas Department of Public Safety took over the scene of the accident and investigation.
