Maverick County Sheriff's Office(PRESS RELEASE)-Sheriff's deputies responded to a call in reference to a non-respondent elderly male subject inside a residence in Seco Mines Monday Morning. Deputies arrived alongside ambulance personnel to 1326 Dr. Gates Road at approximately 11:21 AM to find the unresponsive male subject laying on his right side inside the bathroom. The subject, identified as sixty-six year old Eduardo Ortiz, was provided medical attention by EMT, who were unable to resuscitate the victim. A provider advised deputies that Mr. Ortiz was a diabetic on dialysis who suffered from high blood pressure and EMT further advised deputies that Mr. Ortiz had probably been deceased for several hours. Justice of the Peace Dora Madera arrived at the scene and pronounced the time of death at 11:45 AM. No autopsy was requested.
