Maverick County Daily Reports-July 02, 2020

Information Report-A county unit responded to the intersection of FM 131 and Highway 277 North this afternoon, whereupon arrival observed a Dodge Ram pickup truck engulfed in flames. Eagle Pass Fire Department crews were at the scene to safely extinguish the fire and the Fire Marshall took over the investigation. 

Possession of a Controlled Substance-Deputies patrolling Las Quintas Blvd. this evening conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Captiva after observing a minor infraction. Contact was made with the driver who consented to a vehicle search which would yield the discovery of approximately 48.2 grams of synthetic marijuana inside a handbag hidden under the center console. The driver of the vehicle identified as twenty-four year old Victor Jesus Chavez was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
