Maverick County Daily Reports-May 23, 2020

Disorderly Conduct-Deputies this morning arrested Beatrice Rivas and Daniel Zapata at a residence on Peach Street after a verbal argument between the two turned into physical altercation. The two subjects were then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Recovered Narcotics-A correctional officer at the Tom Bowles Detention Center reported that in the midst of sorting through mail, a strong marijuana odor was emitting from an envelope intended for an inmate. A search of the envelope found a hidden compartment in a greeting card containing two small baggies of a green leafy substance and small bag containing a white powdery substance. The envelope and case has been turned over to the criminal investigations unit for further investigation.

Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz.-A traffic stop conducted on a 2006 GMC Sierra this morning yielded the discovery of a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle. The driver identified as twenty-eight year old Andres Vela was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
