Maverick County Daily Reports-December 17, 2019

Assault-A unit responded to the Geo Detention Center on Highway 131 early this morning after an inmate intentionally assaulted a male and female officer. The two officers were then transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained in the attack.

Wanted Person-Agents at the port this morning detained a male subject after a check revealed a possible warrant for his arrest. The warrant out of Montgomery County for the subject in question, Guadalupe Gonzalez, was confirmed as active and he was placed under arrest before being transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Evading Arrest or Detention/Resisting Arrest-Deputies working Operation Stonegarden this afternoon conducted a traffic stop on a 2016 Dodge Dart for a minor traffic infraction. Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies made contact with the occupants and observed an open alcohol container. The occupants were asked to step out and a search of the vehicle ensued before the passenger attempted to flee the scene on foot. After a brief foot chase, the passenger identified as thirty-three year old Juan Eduardo Carrizalez was apprehended and placed under arrest. He was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing. Deputies recovered a 45 cal. firearm from underneath the front passenger seat of the vehicle and a check revealed the firearm reported as stolen out of the Longview Police Department. It was taken into custody and placed in the evidence locker.
