Maverick County Daily Reports-September 29, 2018

Child Endangerment-A deputy responded to the intersection of Rosita Valley Road and Garcia Street early this morning, where a reporting person stated he observed a male subject walking on the street carrying an infant and falling several times. Contact was made with the subject, identified as Shane Cody Flores, who was found in a highly intoxicated state. EMS crews arrived at the scene to evaluate the toddler, who suffered minor scratches to his knees. Mr. Flores was taken into custody on child endangerment charges and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Motor Vehicle Accident-Units were dispatched to FM1021 and Tierra Soberana this morning, whereupon arrival observed a 1999 Grand Marquis involved in an accident with a 2013 Toyota Camry. Initial contact was made with the driver of the Grand Marquis who reported he had been turning onto FM1021 when he was struck by the driver of the Camry, who had disregarded a red light. Contact was also made with the driver of the Camry, Ebenezer Oyenola, who displayed signs of intoxicated and admitted to consuming alcohol. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing. The driver of the Marquis was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

Criminal Mischief-A complainant at the Super Seven Market on Eidson Road reported a known male subject attempted to cause damages to vehicles in the store parking lot while customers shopped inside. A formal report was filed.

Deceased Person-A unit responded to El Indio, Texas where Border Patrol agents reported a deceased person in the Rio Grande River. A Justice of the Peace was summoned to the scene to declare the subject deceased.

Possession of Marijuana/Public Intoxication-A county unit patroling North Veteran's Blvd. this afternoon conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle found driving recklessly. Contact was made with the occupants of the vehicle, who emitted a strong alcoholic odor emitting from their person. Both the driver and the passenger admitted to having consumed alcohol prior to the traffic stop. A search of the vehicle also yielded the discovery of a container with a green leafy substance with marijuana characteristics. The driver, Armando Herrera II, was placed under arrest on possession of marijuana charges. His passenger, Gysel Cerna was later arrested on public intoxication charges. The two were transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
