Maverick County Daily Reports-November 29, 2016

Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle/Reckless Driving-Maverick County units were led on a pursuit this morning after a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer disregarded attempts to conduct a traffic stop after it failed to control its speed and struck a curb at the intersection of US Highway 57 and US Highway 277.  The vehicle continued traveling upwards of 82 MPH in an 45 MPH zone while its front left tire began disintegrating. The chase came to an end near the intersection of Veteran's Blvd. and Applewood and its driver, Reynaldo T. Lopez, was placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Criminal Mischief/Terroristic Threats-A complainant on the 2600 block of Cenizo Drive reported a known female subject had slashed her vehicle's tires and had verbally threatened her with serious bodily injuries.

Recovered Narcotics-Deputies were in contact with USBP agents at the US Highway 57 checkpoint who recovered a green leafy substance, later identified as less than two ounces of marijuana. The narcotic was taken into custody and stored in the evidence locker at the Maverick County Sheriff's Office.

Motor Vehicle Accident-County units responded to a motor vehicle accident on US Highway 57 past the US Border Patrol Checkpoint this evening. Upon arrival, deputies witnessed a 1997 Ford F-250 had collided with a 2013 Buck Lacrosse on the northbound lane of  Highway 57. EMS crews were immediately summoned to the scene for medical attention. Justice of the Peace Madera also arrived at the location, where all occupants of both vehicles were pronounced deceased at the scene.
