Maverick County Daily Reports-November 11, 2016

Hit and Run-A resident on Siesta Drive reported an unknown vehicle had struck his 2014 Dodge pickup on the back quarter panel. A report was filed.

Possession of a Controlled Substance-Deputies responded to the USBP checkpoint on US Highway 57 after a male subject was detained when he was found to be in possession of meth. The subject, identified as John Edward Tapia, was placed under arrest and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Burglary of Habitation-A resident on the 1900 block of Coyunda reported unknown subjects had entered her home and took several items without consent.

Wanted Person-Rene Herman Larios was arrested this afternoon at the USBP checkpoint when a background check revealed an active warrant out of Maverick County. Mr. Larios was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.

Motor Vehicle Accident/DWI-County units responded to the intersection of US Highway 277 North and Thompson Road this afternoon after receiving reports of a three car pileup. Upon arrival, deputies observed a Ford F-250 with rear end damages, a Buck Enclave with damages sustained to both the front and rear of the vehicle, and a Ford F-350 with minor front end damages. Contact was made with the drivers of vehicles, which deputies determined were at a complete stop on highway 277 awaiting the traffic signal to change. The driver of the F-350 then struck the Buick from behind, forcing it to collide into the F-250. Deputies also detected a strong alcoholic odor emitting from the driver of the F-350, identified as Jorge Garza Martinez. Mr. Martinez was later placed under arrest on DWI charges. All occupants refused medical attention at the time of this report.
