The Maverick County Sheriff's Office received a call in reference to a single motor vehicle rollover accident by Old Mines Road Sunday morning. At approximately 5:34 AM, the called advised that the driver of a 2008 Jeep had exited the damaged vehicle in need of medical assistance. Deputies and Eagle Pass Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene, located near the Aerostat radar, to make contact with the person, identified as Ricardo Zapata, who was in need of air transportation to San Antonio, Texas for further medical attention. The Texas Department of Public Safety arrived at the location and has since taken over the investigation. The United States Border Patrol was also on hand to assist with traffic control.
